The Laboratory of Bioelectrochemistry and Interfaces is localized at Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos (IQSC) that is one of the unities of University of São Paulo. The Laboratory is coordinated by Prof. Frank Crespilho and it is under administration of the Department of Physical Chemistry. The department is engaged on extensive basic and applied research programs in chemistry, involving a wide range of scientific interactions with national and international institutions, and ranking the IQSC as one at the top level of scientific productivity in Brazil. Graduated courses are in the areas of Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Engineering and Materials Science, Bioengineering, all of them ranked at high levels by Coordenadoria de Aperfeiçoamento do Ensino Superior (CAPES) of the Ministry of Education.

Located in the geographical center of the State of São Paulo (SP), the city of São Carlos possesses special characteristics that you turn a prominence place under several aspects. The suave climate, with annual medium temperature of 19,6 ºC, added to the medium altitudes between 800 and 1.000 meters, does of São Carlos a very pleasant place, curious geological formations and beautiful landscapes. Beyond the concentration of universities and centers of researches, São Carlos introduces great concentration of scientists and researchers: a researcher doctor (PhD) for each 180 inhabitants and a researcher for each 42 inhabitants.
